Sharon Vonne Stone, born on March 10, 1958 is an American actress. She is best known for her role as femme fatales and as women who are mysterious on television and film. She was among the most well-known sex icons in the 1990s. She has received numerous accolades such as a Primetime Emmy Award (with a Golden Globe Award) and nominations for an Academy Award. She received an honorary star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1995, and was named Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters in France in 2005. (Commander in 2021).



 After appearing in commercials for television and print advertisements, Stone made her film debut as an actor in Woody Allen's drama Stardust Memories (1980) and performed her first role as a speaking actress in the horror film of Wes Craven Deadly Blessing (1981). The 1980s saw Stone starred in films such as Irreconcilable distinctions (1984), King Solomon's Mines(85), Cold Steel (877) and Above the Law (88). She achieved fame by playing the role of Paul Verhoeven's science-fiction action film Total Recall (1990), before rising to international recognition when she played Catherine Tramell in another Verhoeven film called Basic Instinct (1992) in which she earned her first Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama.
